Peningkatan Literasi Sawit Berkelanjutan bagi Siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas di Daerah Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit (Sman 2 Rumbio Jaya)

The expansion of oil palm plantations in Indonesia continues to increase due to the growing interest of communities in this sector, which is considered capable of providing economic benefits and improving welfare. Land conversion into oil palm plantations is viewed as a promising business opportunity, especially for rural communities. However, the development of the palm oil industry has also raised various negative issues within society, including allegations of environmental damage, deforestation, forest fires, pollution, and drought. Much of this information is often spread without a comprehensive understanding of sustainable oil palm management. This situation has led to inaccurate perceptions of the palm oil industry in Indonesia. Therefore, the Community Service Team (PKM) of Kampar Polytechnic conducted an educational program regarding oil palm and the concept of sustainable palm oil for students of SMAN 2 Rumbio Jaya. This activity aimed to provide proper understanding about the benefits, challenges, and environmentally friendly management of oil palm plantations so that students are able to critically filter information and disseminate accurate knowledge within their surrounding communities. Through this educational activity, it is expected that a younger generation with wiser perspectives toward oil palm plantation issues can be developed.
