Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has influenced various fields, including programming activities among university students. One of the emerging technologies widely used in programming is the AI Code Assistant, which can assist users in writing code, understanding programming Syntax, and accelerating the Coding process. This study aims to analyze the use of AI Code Assistants on students’ programming productivity at Universitas Multi Data Palembang using the Task Technology Fit (TTF) framework. The research employed a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 35 students who had experience using AI Code Assistants in programming activities. The results indicate that AI Code Assistants have a high level of suitability for students’ programming tasks and are considered capable of improving Coding effectiveness and productivity. In addition, the technology assists students in Debugging programs and understanding programming Syntax more efficiently. However, excessive use of AI may also create dependency and reduce students’ ability to develop programming logic independently. Therefore, the use of AI Code Assistants should be balanced with a proper understanding of basic programming concepts.
