Abstract

This study aims to analyze the causes of malfunction in the auxiliary fuel pump component and to carry out troubleshooting and replacement procedures on a Cessna 172S aircraft (PK-BYL) owned by the Indonesian Aviation Academy Banyuwangi. The auxiliary fuel pump is a critical part of the fuel system that supports engine start-up, emergency operation, and the engine-driven fuel pump. A qualitative descriptive method was used through direct observation during On-the-Job Training (OJT) at the academy hangar. The results show that the malfunction was indicated by the absence of pump sound during priming, a stagnant fuel flow (FFLOW GPH) on the Garmin Display Unit, and voltage readings below the 24V DC standard. The average measured voltage was 12.197 volts, indicating the component was unserviceable. The troubleshooting process involved replacing the auxiliary fuel pump according to the Aircraft Maintenance Manual. After replacement and functional testing, the system returned to normal operation, and the aircraft was declared serviceable and ready for flight.
