Abstract

This study aims to analyze soil characteristics, soil bearing capacity, and foundation recommendations for the construction project of Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Mental Hospital in Lawang–Malang using the Cone Penetration Test (CPT) method. The research method used is a quantitative approach with field research through field testing at observation points S1, S2, and S3. The data obtained were analyzed based on the Cone Resistance (qc), Friction Ratio (Rf), cone pressure (Cn), and the amount of adhesive resistance (JHP) to determine the bearing capacity of the foundation. The results showed that the soil layer at a depth of 0–2 meters was dominated by soft soil in the form of clay and silt, while at a depth of 4–7 meters a layer of dense to very dense sand was found with a qc value ranging from 100–150 kg/cm² and an Rf value of less than 2%. These conditions indicate that the deep soil layer has good bearing capacity for deep foundations.
