Abstract

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is widely used as an indicator to describe a country’s economic condition and development. Through GDP, the value added generated by various sectors and their roles in economic activity can be measured. In Indonesia’s economic structure, the manufacturing industry is a key sector contributing significantly to national output. This study aims to examine the contribution of the manufacturing sector to Indonesia’s GDP during the period 2020–2024. The research applies a quantitative approach using a descriptive method. The data analyzed are secondary data obtained from official publications of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and relevant literature sources. The analysis was conducted by comparing annual data on the contribution of the manufacturing sector to Indonesia’s GDP throughout the study period. The findings indicate that the manufacturing sector remains one of the primary contributors to national GDP. In 2020, the sector contributed 19.87 percent of total GDP. Although its contribution slightly declined in subsequent years, it continued to rank among the largest sectors in the economy. In 2023, its share was recorded at 18.67 percent, and in 2024 it increased again to approximately 18.98 percent. These results demonstrate that the manufacturing industry continues to play a crucial role in supporting Indonesia’s economic growth. Therefore, sustained efforts to develop and strengthen this sector are essential to enhance its contribution and ensure long term economic stability and growth.
