Abstract

  1. CV. Bintang Negara is a manufacturing company engaged in the production of tempeh. In its production process, CV. Bintang Negara still receives complaints from consumers because the production output contains various types of defects. Based on these conditions, this study focuses on quality as the main object of research and applies the Seven Tools of Quality Control method. The results of the study show that the most dominant defect at CV. Bintang Negara is spoiled tempeh, with a total of 205 pieces, accounting for 37.8% of the defects over a 14-day production period. The fishbone diagram analysis indicates that there are three factors causing defects such as spoiled tempeh, blackish color, and improper maturity levels, with the main contributing factor being the environment. In the tempeh production process, temperature stability is crucial and must be maintained. Furthermore, analysis using a P-Chart shows that none of the average defect proportions exceed the upper or lower control limits. This indicates that the P-Chart calculations for CV. Bintang Negara remain within acceptable tolerance limits. In addition, the relationship between increases or decreases in production volume and the number of defects is very strong, with a correlation coefficient (r) of 1, indicating a positive correlation.
